Trackbacks are your friend

I’m still trying to get on top of trackbacks but I did discover a power in them today. When you trackback to someone else’s article, you leave a link to your site on their’s. If their’s is a popular site, it could generate a fair bit of traffic.

Now don’t go spamming trackbacks. You will get found out quick anyway if you do.

But when you see an article that interests you and you want to comment on it on your site, make sure you find out if there’s a trackback url.

Backup your Blog

Never assume that your blog is safe from disaster. If your site is hosted by a third party, you might not have thought about backups. Most blogs - and websites - are hosted externally but don’t rely on your host’s backup.

Don’t be surprised also, if there’s some clause in the agreement that says they have no responsibility for the safety of your data.
