A Magical Watch

I’m back from a few days holiday at the beach and I’ve got to tell you about my new watch. It’s magical.

I haven’t worked out how to harness its magical powers, but when I do, look out!

Consider first, it is purely clockwork driven. No batteries, no computer chips. Thus it has no brain that could tell it the real time.

What it does is this:

- If you set it to the correct time, it will lose 20 minutes within the next hour and then stay 20 minutes behind.

- If you set it ahead - even as little as five minutes - it will not lose any time at all, and so will remain ahead.

I have no rational explanation. If there’s a clocksmith who knows, please do tell. Otherwise, I will keep believing it is magic and keep searching for its secret power.
