A Most Magnificent Place

The plains roll down from hill to hill as far as I can see
Trees dot the landscape though some are lined in unity
The sky is dusty blue with the faintest hint of cloud
Peace is springing from this place far from the hectic crowd

My heart can only, but burst forth into song
This placed is like that which I have dreamed for so very long
Hidden away on a dusty track that went to Sydney long ago
If I close my eyes I can make out the sound of horses and Cobb & Co

I love to be among the gums that waltz across this land
To see the valleys vast, sometimes it’s hard to understand
The way it makes me feel, to want to be at one with it
To spill my soul into the soil, to it my life submit

    Hi there Howard.

Australia is a beautiful place - and your poem captures the very essence of this stunning land.

Why don’t you post some more of your poetry - I assume you have written more than this little gem!

Thanks for the encouragement, Trevor. I haven’t done poetry in that style called Australian Bush Ballad) for a few years. But I have got a few, so will scrounge around and put some up.

Oops. Just had a look around your site and discovered you’re an Aussie too - so you wouldn’t really need the explanation.
