A quick way to shutdown many programs in Mac OS X

Doh! Ever accidentally come across an easy way to do something you’ve been doing the hard way?

I often have 10, 15 or even 20 programs running on my Mac, so occasionally I want to quit several of them at once. Previously I’d command-clicked on each’s Dock icon and select Quit.

Ha! Not anymore

Tonight I discovered something I already new. The command-tab, application switcher can quit applications too.

Press command-tab
Keep holding the command key
Either tab or click on the icon of application to quit
Press Q

In a few seconds you can have sent a Quit command to a dozen applications.

Too easy!
