Apple launches iPod nano. Hello nano, goodbye mini.

Apple have discontinued their hugely popular, multi-colored, hard disk based iPod mini, replacing it with a quite stunning, stark white or black, flash based, iPod nano. These will likely sell like iced water on a hot day.
“Take everything you love about iPod and shrink it. Now shrink it again. With 2GB (500 songs) and 4GB (1,000 songs) models at US$199 and US$249, the pencil-thin iPod nano packs the entire iPod experience into an impossibly small design.”
Australian pricing is A$299 and A$359.
Features
- Holds up to 1,000 songs and full-color album art

The nano represents a crossover device which will compete against both flash based players and small capacity hard disk based players, which explains why Apple have dropped the mini.
