Blog Help: Meals vs Service
It is possible to provide a decent product with poor service. Likewise, it is possible to provide an ordinary product with good service.
Which do you prefer?
A new restaurant opened in town that has excellent meals but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Yet, because the meals are so good, people are recommending this restaurant. If that had’ve been the other way around, no one would be recommending this restaurant.
How does that apply to blogging? What is the meal? And what is the service?
Posts are the meals and everything else is the service. If you’ve got the best design, all the latest gizmos and rss feeds and categorization and tags and rich text comment fields and so on, it ain’t worth jack if your posts don’t bring in the readers.
So in your blogging, if you want to build a blog that people talk about, link to and recommend, make sure your meals are very good.
