Blog help: Two tips for success
A few years ago I had a small business providing computer support to home and other small businesses. Although I only did it for two years (it wasn’t making enough money to support the needs of my family at that time), I learned two very important lessons about succeeding in business.
And they apply to pro-blogging as well.
Two income streams
My business was reliant on one income stream: service and support. When I looked at other successful business I noticed they had two or more income streams. For example, one of my customers ran a carpet cleaning business yet his second income stream, and the one that kept him financially viable while the former developed, was making carpet squares for high traffic areas.
Persistence
The other lesson was that it usually takes five years to establish a business to financial security. Thus you have to persist through the early lean years.
One other thing anyone in any sort of business - including blogging - needs to do is build relationships with competitors. I’ll save that for another day, though.
