Hints and tips for Bloggers and others building a website
Here’s a few tips & tricks for websites and blogs in particular which I have garnered. I will keep adding to them as more come to mind.
Use the submission dates for posts
If your CMS lets you, post articles in advance when you know you’re going to be away, and set a posting date.
Create an RSS feed
If you don’t RSS, you are shooting yourself in the foot. At the bottom of my site, you’ll notice an orange and white XML button. Clicking it will add my site to your RSS news reader.
An RSS feed is essentially like a list of headlines. Hence, whenever I post a new article, it pops up in everyone around the world’s news reader. This is how busy people keep up to date with their favorite websites.

Don’t send people away from your site
When someone clicks a link to an external site, make sure it opens in a new window so it’s more likely they’ll some back to your site - since it’s still open. Hopefully in the future, HTML coding will add the option to open in a new tab - which is much tidier.
