The Qwertyrash Blogs

A bit of everything: blogging, technology, writing, musings, sport and humor

How do you tell your better half you’re going to be a pro-blogger?

Currently I do not have a day job, so am looking. But don’t really want anything too consuming as I really want to give blogging a decent crack.

Was just chatting to a friend and told her:

How do i tell my wife?!! “It’s okay dear, I’m just gunna play on the internet for a couple of years to see if i can make some money”

Somehow, I can’t see my wife going for that…

At worst, I just want a job the is 9-to-5 and that’s all. But a part-time job would be even better.

So how do you convince people blogging is a legitimate business?

I’ve had a few people ask me how’s things and what have I been up to? How do I tell them without getting a patronising lecture on the need to get a real job?

I’ve had a “real business” before too. And it started at zero and had to be built up - just like a pro blog does.

A pro-blog is a business. There’s no certainty of success - no matter how hard you work at it. And it takes a long time to get financially viable.
