How long should a domain name be?

What’s your opinion on this dear reader? The new blog I am setting up doesn’t have a domain name yet. Some of the ones I am toying with are quite long - up to 20 characters before you even type .com!

Generally websites are clicked on, but it becomes more of an issue with email addresses which you often give out verbally and people type in.

Would you rather chris@tomorrownevercomes.com or chris@tnc.com?

That’s not my domain, just an example, but which would you rather tell people? Would you rather a clear name that tells people exactly who you are, or would you be happy with a shortened version for the sake of brevity and simplicity?
