Time can be its own worst enemy. As the old saying goes, “a busy man gets the job done”

There’s a catch there though. It should say “a man with no time gets the job done”

When we have plenty of time, our day inflates into every nook and cranny.

Since I became unemployed, I’ve gone through a cycle of getting excessively busy and then having to cut back. It seems that the more available time I’ve got, the more I try to do - kind of in a log sense. for instance, if I’ve got 4hrs a day free, I try to squeeze 5hrs into it, but when I’ve got 12 hrs a day free, I’m trying to squeeze 24hrs into it. And it just don’t fit!

Things I am wanting or trying to do are:

- Learn PHP
- Website development (4 currently)
- Learn WordPress
- Develop WordPress plugins
- Do a writing course
- Do a gardening course
- Write a novel
- Read books
- Exercise (walk)
- Meditate (supposedly very good for getting on top of things - I can’t find the time to do it though…)
- Operate blogs

And it’s that last one that is the most time consuming. It’s not so bad when things are running smoothly - i.e. no technical issues - but that just never seems to happen. And there is a mountain of reading behind blogging.

If I had a job, I would probably accept that I can’t do everything and focus just on the blog (and do less technical stuff on it). But time seduces you. It lulls you with its song of “You’ve got so much time, you can do a little more”.

Oh, and of course, somewhere amongst all that I have to find room a wife and four children!
