Journal of a New Blogger. Part 1
I started this blog back in early August 2005. It’s now mid September. I’ve decided to write of my experiences because mine are probably similar to a lot of others. So for someone thinking of starting a blog, hopefully they can read this and get both inspired and pragmatic about blogging. Hopefully not discouraged.
I don’t have a plan for how often I will write new pieces in this series. It will depend more on what significant blogging experiences I have. But hopefully I will learn something new every week I can share with you.
Parallel to this series, I will be developing a glossary of terms and blogging stuff to save you having to trawl through this series for that sort of information.
Who am I?
Hi. I’m Chris. I have 20 years experience in computers, have done a bit of cartooning and a bit of writing. In May of this year I got made redundant by my employer - a decision that was mutually beneficial. They got rid of me, and I got rid of them. We were past our use-by-date. As I write this, I am still unemployed.
About two weeks later, I was invited to write for Apple Matters website, a site I’d been a regular contributor to through commenting on their articles. This proved vital as the weekly deadline gave momentum to all sources of my writing.
In July, I discovered that some people were making seriously good money from writing on the internet - also known as blogging. And these are people with no training in the writing field.
Consequently, I set about redeveloping my own website for blogging. Now wasn’t that fun!!
Next time I will tell you about that and other technicalities.
