Macworld | Mac Gems: Typing time saver

MacWorld have reviewed and recommended Peter Maurer’s Textpander. Peter is also the developer of the well known and well loved, Butler utility.

Textpander is simply a shorthand converter. You enter a shorthand notation, and it expands it to the full text you’ve defined. For example, I have configured !ahr expand to . Textpander allows me to palce the cursor anywhere in the expanded text - eg in that example, after the first “=” sign.

Shortcuts can take any format you desire and can include formatted text and pictures.

Basically, I agree with everything MacWorld have said. Give it a try and donate if you use it.

“I love Textpander’s simplicity of installation and removal - and a simple checkbox to deactivate it without uninstalling - as well as the ease with which I can create shortcuts. Textpander’s ability to capture the shortcuts in every application I throw at it also impresses me.”
