Micro Fiction: The Vandal
Micro Fiction is a short story of 100 words or less. This is my first attempt which is based on the first short story I wrote when I returned to writing:
The Vandal
Time is the cruelest vandal of all. It had etched away at his features, leaving him haggard, stolen his youth, brought him loneliness. Wet through and bitterly cold, he tried to protect the hopelessly small pile of dried grass and leaves from the rain. He picked up the two driest sticks. A fire might buy another day. Time, which he reviled, was now a friend he sought. His muscles ached as he worked. He became uncoordinated as his arms gave way to the pain. Then he stopped and sobbed. Time would commit its final cruel act of vandalism.
