Windows - TrustedReviews asks if the end is nigh for reboot

TrustedReviews who I get a lot of my reviews for Go Play AV site, have thrown out a bit of a teaser about Windows:

Nothing works with quite the same idiosyncrasies as a PC running Windows. Example Number 9,786,432: The Reboot, that ridiculous and time consuming element that is at the heart of keeping the OS up to date. But has Microsoft finally cracked it?

No. Sorry to tease and titillate, but MS Co-Pres of Platform Products Jim Allchin did it to us and – in the tradition of middle siblings passing down their beatings from older siblings to younger ones – I felt inclined to do it to you. What we do have however (in true Microsoft fashion) is a half way measure.

‘Restart Manager’ is its name and while it doesn’t eliminate the dreaded reboot it does remove the need to restart all your work.

Now.. if my grey matter is functioning correctly… Microsoft promised us that Windows 95 would virtually do away with rebooting!!!

Vista Virus but Linux and Mac OS X still wait.

So, Vista is still in beta and the virus writers are hard at it. What caught my attention though, was a suggestion by Mikko Hyppönen, chief research officer with Helsinki’s F-Secure Corp that “These are proof of concept viruses,” he said, “Where virus writers want to break new ground and write the first viruses for a new platform.”
