The Qwertyrash Blogs

A bit of everything: blogging, technology, writing, musings, sport and humor

Oh yeah, by the way… 2007 news

My posting’s here have been somewhat irregular latterly. Oh okay, allwhat!

So better bring you up to speed.

Latterly is my fave word of the moment.

But there is bigger news. Although I am continuing to be a writer, that isn’t exactly employment type work, so I’ve returned to study this year but am doing Graphic Arts instead. Now don’t ask me what a computer nerd who failed art at school is doing in a graphics course, because you’ll just set my left brain (that has asked the very same question quite repeatedly) off in a tizz again.

I am getting the hang of it though and have settled - or maybe sedated - the left brain. The course trains you up to be a graphic designer, but has a strong fous on traditional art techniques and skills.

So anyways, that will keep me off the virtual streets for next couple of years.

Check out this great goal setting site

Oe of the secrets of successful goal setting is telling other people. It’s amazing how hard that can be if you’re not serious about the goal, and it’s amazing how powerful it is when you know someone else is watching to see if you succeed.

Playstation kids don’t get the Wii

Veteran and hardcore gamers are apparently just as sold on the Nintendo Wii as everybody else, but I’ve noticed one group who seem to get bored easily by it: PlayStation kids. We’ve had 8yo, 10yo and 11yo boys visit who own PlayStation 2…. It seems they are used to lots of carange and explosions, so can’t appreciate any other type of game.

Cartoon: Naughty and Nice

Another entry for the Chewing Pencils competition. It’s probably better. The previous one’s a bit too subtle I think.

Cartoon: Is Santa Real?

Chewing Pencils is running a little competition to draw a Christmas themed cartoon that features the word “blog”. It does close on Now 5th though if you’re keen.

After scratching my head for a week and procrastinating because I had assignments to do (woohoo! two weeks to go!), I finally scribbled something down. I drew it using Rita with a Wacom graphics tablet and finished it (text and frames) using Plasq’s Comic Life.
